Lausanne-Ouchy
Ouchy is the southern part of the city of Lausanne, located on the banks of Lake Geneva. Ouchy is the main hub of the CGN,
Compagnie Générale de Navigation sur le Lac Léman
, the company operating boats, among them several Belle Epoque paddle steamers, on the Lake Geneva. Ouchy is also the location of the shipyards of the CGN.
At Ouchy, the Lake is about 14 km wide, with Evian-les-Bains (France) on the opposite side. At mid-distance between Lausanne and Evian, the lake is about 310 m. deep.
Without all the sediments accumulated in centuries, it would be some 700 m. deep.
Since Geneva is not the only large city on the banks of the Lake, an own name for the Lake like in French
Lac Léman
is better suited, than a name referring to a city.
